Who is considered a "Small Employer"?
- Employers with 2-50 employees who work 24 hours or more a
week on a regular basis.
Can I get Small Group Insurance if I'm self employed?
- Yes you can. Colorado has what's called Business
Group of One. To be eligible you have to have carried
on significant business activity for at least one year prior to
applying and have generated a taxable income or derived a
substantial part of your income your business. Apply for
coverage within 30 days of your birthday or within 31 days of
the one year anniversary of your business.
How much of my employees premium am I required to pay?
- The employer is required to pay a minimum of 50% of the
employee only cost. The employer does not have to contribute
anything to dependent coverage.
What is the application process?
- Fill out the
Group Census Form.
- Have your employees fill out the
Colorado Uniform Group Application.
- Colorado law requires that life insurance be sold to each
plan member so they will also need to fill out the
Colorado Group Life Application.
- Please note that even if an employee is electing to waive
coverage they will still need to fill out both applications.
- Once we have decided on a plan you'll then fill out the
carrier Group Application. You will also need to provide the
correct
Tax Documentation along with the application.
